Woke up this morning with a sore throat and an overall feeling of "blah." I have officially caught the CRUD; seems like a cold of some sort. So I'm spending today working to kick this as quickly as possible (can't afford to be sick during the week). But at least "kicking this as quickly as possible" involves ... drinking lots of tea, reading, napping and lounging by the pool. Lots of relaxation and rest = speedy recovery. Oh yeah, and a very happy Erin, too.
You wave, of course. Don't be rude!
<wave>Heyyy!!!</wave>
... of simply luxuries.
One last note before I go to bed (since I so rarely blog these days ... thanks to an insanely busy time at work). I'm considering buying a netbook, but I can't decide which one I want. They all seem fairly darn similar to me. I know I won't be getting much computing power, but I don't really need it. I want the netbook primarily for portable connectivity, for accomplishing small tasks (I do want MS office on it, in case I need to tackle small work-related tasks while at home), and for general Web stuff, photos, downloading music, etc. I do plan to also buy an external hard drive (finally), where I'll be storing my photos, music and other stuff. So I don't really need a comp with a lot of muscle.
I've considered this deal from Verizon, which gives you a netbook for a NICE price and you can get mobile broadband internet for it for about $40 a month. I think I would like the flexibility of having Internet ... pretty much wherever I want. Budget-wise, it would be a pretty even trade-off, b/c I would scale back on my Comcast package to get rid of my landline (HA!) and my regular internet. (You know how much I LOVE Comcast.) Yeah, I think I'm leaning toward the Verizon netbook. But am still mulling it over ...
Decisions, decisions ...
I am a lover of naps. Seriously, it's one of my favorite pastimes. But I have another luxury that's perhaps not so commonly shared: I enjoy embracing my natural rhythm and forgoing setting an alarm clock (even during the work week). All too often, I can't indulge this particular quirk because I ... am having a busy week, need to get up early to work out, have an early meeting ... you name it.
But every now and then, I remember that my sanity is important, too. And if getting in tune with my core Zzzz-zone is what sets me back in my natural groove, I think it's well worth forgoing all those other things (and hell, maybe getting to work a teensy bit late -- it's not like someone will DIE) is A-OK.
So off I go to snooze until my heart, brain and body is content -- literally.
I have this little ditty printed out and stuck on a memo board above my desk at work. (I believe Jenna forwarded it to a couple of us after her dad sent it to her several months ago.) Anyway, it's been there for a while. And I just happened to notice it again and read it. It's particularly poignant right now ...
It's never too late or too early to be whoever you want to be.
There is no limit.
Start whenever you want.
You can change or stay the same.
There are no rules to this thing.
We can make the best or worst of it.
I hope you make the best of it.
I hope you see things that startle you.
I hope you feel things that you never felt before.
I hope you meet people who have a different point of view.
I hope you live a life you are proud of, and if you're not,
I hope you have the courage to start all over again.
Just very, very, very busy.
Ironic that my last post was about vacation. Obviously, it's a good thing I took a vacation when I did. Oy.
