I've had a supremely productive weekend. Went to Ali's baby shower yesterday. Took a looooong nap after that. Ran errands once I finally woke up. Mustered up the energy to go out Saturday night, which is surprisingly rare. Headed into the office around lunchtime on Sunday and proceeded to have a very productive afternoon getting my shtuff together for the week ahead. And so far, my evening at home has been rather fruitful as well. I made cookies, did the dishes, and now ... I'm about to get up and do some serious cleaning up around here. Time to crank up the music again!
Look! ...
Here's what my sister had to say in her email with the picture:
Here is a picture of Ben in his new Jeep the first time we put it together and took it outside. We made it drive around the yard and he seemed to really enjoy it. However, he is just as happy sitting in it watching cartoons. I'll really be in trouble when he figures out that when he mashes the green pedal in the floor it make it go.
:)
I almost put lotion (instead of conditioner) on my hair in the shower this morning. THAT would have been a disaster.
I'm in Athens, GA, for about a day. And it is very clear that I have Southern roots. My top priorities while I'm here include:
- Chic-fil-A
- Mellow Mushroom
- and Waffle House
I like H&R Block's online taxes feature because it does make it relatively easy to file your taxes online. But this year, I still ended up paying more than $1000 in additional taxes. I mean, come ON!
(Sigh) I admit. Looks like I need a little hand-holding to learn how to be a little smarter about my taxes.
I just came across a few postcards from my trip to Europe that I didn't get a chance to mail while I was over there. I'll be dropping them in the mail tomorrow, so be on the lookout for some very late European postcards with a DC postmark! :)
Monte and Michelle threw their "Anything Goes" party this weekend -- twas tons of fun! Basically, the objective of the party is for folks to wear pretty much anything they've ever wanted to wear. From the invitation:
Wear that prom dress that you love and only wore once; wear that horrendous bridesmaid dress that is too wrong not to share with your friends; wear that cocktail dress you still haven’t had the occasion to use. Any of the following are acceptable: wigs; gaudy necklaces; scary make-up; cowboy boots; dresses with poofy sleeves; underwear as outerwear; rejected Halloween costumes, themed (70s, 80s, 40s, pirate, etc.) costumes; and anything else that puckish mind of yours can come up with.
So really, we were encouraged to wear ... pretty much anything! Since
all of my funky costuming stuff is back home at my mom's house, I had
to figure out something up here that I could wear. The day of the
party, Jenna and I made a run to the thrift store to see what we could
find. We had BRILLIANT luck, resulting in what became known as
Princess Buttercup and Mrs. Smith. Tah-dah!

They're nothing spectacular -- trust me -- but they do showcase some of the cool places we visited. Each was shot on my little Canon PowerShot ... so yes ... they are a little shaky. But whatevs. Enjoy!
(They're all in the right sidebar, under "videos.")
And to kick things off ... here's one of the cool tubes in the Paris airport:
